Overview

The Youido Institute is the first policy research institute in Korea to be established by a political party. It was founded in 1995 upon the platform of building a policy-oriented political party.
For the past 14 years, the Youido Institute has pursued its nonprofit mission by conducting research and analysis to improve the policy and strategy of the Grand National Party (GNP), a leading conservative party in Korea. The YDI has also generated a range of solutions to governmental policy issues consistent with our beliefs firmly rooted in free democracy and a market economy.
The core functions of the YDI are to provide necessary information and strategic consultation to the GNP, to formulate policy recommendations through publications and other activities, to promote public as well as internal debates about the context and content of policy responses, and to offer new ideas to decision-makers and policy-shapers of the party or government on how to properly tackle the problems which they face.
The accelerating pace of change in the 21st century is bringing with it diverse demands for creative innovation and genuine advancement. The YDI will continue to face the demands and address difficult challenges of the newly emerging world in this century.
As policy and strategy entrepreneurs, the YDI will set a vigorous, creative agenda and vision for the people in the Korean peninsula and world community. Commitment to this mission will continue to define Youido Institute¡¯s work in the years to come.
